Wagga Wagga is a vibrant regional City located on the banks of the magnificent Murrumbidgee River. Wagga is the state’s largest inland city and the country’s 5th largest. The city is located midway between our 2 largest cities in Australia, Sydney & Melbourne, and is the major regional centre for the Riverina and South West Slopes regions.
The original inhabitants, the Wiradjuri, were the largest Aboriginal tribe in New South Wales. It is from these inhabitants that the town found its name with “Wagga” meaning “crow” and repeating it, hence the plural meaning “the place of many crows”.
From these proud origins to the culturally rich community that exists today, Wagga Wagga takes its place as the capital of the Riverina region providing an exciting and yet relaxed lifestyle for residents and its many visitors. With over 60,000 people living in Wagga, it has the lifestyle and facilities to suit everyone. |
