THE Northern Storm Cyclones are going pink all in the name of fundraising. Today, the women's first and reserve grade football teams will be holding a fundraiser in order to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. During their match against the Woolgoolga Wildcats at the "Cove" in Korora, the senior women's teams will be wearing pink playing shirts and president Rob Manning is arranging to have pink line marking.
The day will also be centred around a fundraising cake stall and raffles. The game between the first grade Northern Storm Cyclones and the Woolgoolga Wildcats will kick off at 3pm, however, the cake stall will be running from earlier in the day with 100 per cent of the takings being donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
After the game the players from both teams will be heading back to the Plantation Hotel to auction the playing shirts and for a drink and a meal. "In conjunction with the 'Planto' we would like to make this very important cause an annual event," NSFC secretary Joanne McCourt said.
The Plantation Hotel is a registered Team Pink fundraiser through the Northern Storm FC Women's teams in Coffs Harbour and is currently working on further fundraising activities throughout the season.

WHEN the Northern Storm women's division one team takes to the field this afternoon against Woolgoolga, there's no doubting they will turn a few heads. Thanks to the support of the club's major sponsor, the Plantation Hotel, the Storm girls will run on to their IKorora home ground wearing a bright shade of pink, all in the name of a good cause.
The club is raising funds and awareness for Breast Cancer research with the pink strips being worn by the top women's team a highlight of the effort. Northern Storm club president Rob Manning said he hoped all of the football clubs in the North Coast Football fraternity get behind the Storm's effort this weekend to make a difference.
"We're inviting all of the other teams back to the Plantation Hotel on Saturday afternoon for an auction of the jerseys and more fundraising," Manning said. It's not just the women's first division team that will be doing their utmost to raise funds for the worthy cause.
The junior clubs are also playing at the ground from 9am today and Manning explained that even the juniors are putting up their hand to do their bit. "There will be pink cupcakes on sale in the canteen and there will be a good raffle as well." he said.
