NLG VENUES GEARING UP FOR A HUGE NRL SEASON

MEDIA RELEASE: 11th March 2010

While Nathan Hindmarsh becomes the official ‘face of the west’ for Rugby League, the true identities for the heartland will be ex football legends Eric Grothe & Darryl Brohman as they become Rugby League ambassadors for NLG Hotel Group venues.

Amongst the NLG venues, nearly 2000 tipsters will frequent the pubs every week to put in their tips and cheer for their local teams. As community hubs, the Hotels will be the perfect place to watch the games with Friday night sweeps and all games shown live on a multitude of large screens. The great atmosphere created at NLG venues will rival that of actually being at the game!

As well this NRL season, the group will be introducing their own NLG “Lady Luck”, Renee Slansky, an Inside Sport model & former Miss Universe contestant. Renee, the Guru and Darryl Brohman will be making regular visits to the hotels throughout the footy season to share their expert insights and share a laugh with the punters. Throughout the NLG footy promotion, customers will have the choice of which celebrity they want to come to their hotel and have a drink with.…. I wonder who they will choose??

“The Big Marn, Darryl Brohman has a larrikin nature that many of our customers can relate to, even though he is traditionally a terrible tipster.” Said Group Marketing Manager, Alistair Flower.  “And the Guru is regularly at many of the pubs and is always up for a chat with the locals”. Said Flower.

“Although a national competition, the NRL is a major component of our localised marketing strategy in the venues. Local communities really get behind and are passionate about their teams. With a huge emphasis on local sport sponsorship drive around all NLG venues, we are expecting a huge year!” Said Flower.

The NLG Hotel Group consists of 36 venues in NSW & QLD with 17 in the western suburbs at locations like St Marys, Lalor Park, Auburn, Lidcombe, Canterbury & Campbelltown to name a few.
