Mt Annan Mustangs show of passion

FOOTBALL fans Australia over are jubilant as the Socceroos kick for glory in the 2010 World Cup, and Mt Annan Mustangs members are chief among them.

Members will gather at Mt Annan Hotel from midnight on June 20 for Australia’s second game, against Ghana.

The hotel is the major sponsor of the club, whose president, Alan Dudley, expects an atmosphere of keen excitement at the get-together. “It’s the most played sport in the world and it only hits the world stage once every four years,” he said.

“If you’re passionate about a sport you will stay up all night then go to work the next day pumping coffee to keep going. That’s what passion is.” Sponsoring the club for the second year, Mt Annan Hotel was becoming a second home for members, Dudley said.

He said hotel licensee John Payne was doing many of the event’s preparations, with some of the finer details still to be worked out.

“We’re planning karaoke and betting on things like who scores the first goal and the final score,” Dudley said.
