NLG Mo Men Raise Over $17,000 For The Movember Foundation In 2011

NLG Hotel Group prepared for their third year of support for the Movember Foundation by shaving down to crisp faces in preparation for the month long moustache nurturing month which has become to be known as Movember!

Each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in Australia and around the world. Specifically, the Movember Foundation raises vital funds and awareness for prostate cancer and depression in men.

Since Movember was introduced into NLG venues back in 2009, the group has raised an impressive $36,295.12 for the Movember Foundation. This year, the efforts of NLG’s 32 venues across NSW and QLD amounted in an outstanding $17,159.25 being raised for the foundation; not to mention the countless conversations raising awareness around men’s health.

“Our venues have created a real connection with Movember which is evident after this year’s results” said NLG Hotel Group General Manager Marketing & Commercial, Alistair Flower..

With NLG Hotel Group now taking their total funds raised for the Movember Foundation to $53,454.37 the group are excited by their ability to rally local communities around this great cause.

“The interaction between hotel’s and their local communities is what this is all about. Creating this unity around such an important issue strengthens communities and the hotel’s involvement within their local area” continued Alistair.

Throughout the month of November, NLG Hotel Group Venues, lead by venue management hosted a range of activities including gold coin donations, BBQs, Mo Men parties and more. The activity culminated in enjoyable events and open conversation around this important issue.

“For NLG venues, Movember adds a quirky element to daily activity, creates the perfect platform for staff/customer engagement, and shows local communities that hotels too, are active in supporting current and important societal issues” concluded, Alistair.
