NLG HOTEL GROUP AND ARTIST LEANNE PRESSING FIND SOLACE IN PAINT STROKES IN AID OF QLD FLOOD RELIEF

NLG Hotel Group and Port Macquarie Artist Leanne Pressing find solace in paint brush strokes with the creation of ‘Emergency Fair Dinkum” in aid of QLD Flood Relief.

For NLG Hotel Group, the QLD Floods united their 37 QLD and NSW venues into action with month long fundraising activity throughout January resulting in a massive $19,231.50 being raised for the Queensland Floods Appeal; the sum of which was donated to the AHA NSW Queensland Floods Appeal.

For Leanne Prussing, a popular artist local to the Port Macquarie area, a visit to the East Port Veterinary Hospital was the spark that ignited her floods appeal efforts. Leanne said, “...I noticed they had a donation tin for the RSPCA Flood Relief and I got chatting to the volunteer about the missing and stranded animals. Her face broke into a look of sheer helplessness as she spoke. We have all watched this tragedy unfold on TV in our lounge rooms, but it was the look on her face that inspired me into action.”

After images of a man rescuing a Kangaroo from the floodwaters in Ipswich Queensland circulated the nation, Leanne, touched by the display of humanity and survival, took to canvas to recreate the image.

“I have a fascination with the “oneness” that comes in emergency situations; there is no longer a gap between the animal and the human, but rather a connection in survival.”  Leanne continued.

Leanne, whose paintings are on show at NLG Hotel Groups Town Green Inn at Port Macquarie, donated this painting to the groups Flood Relief Appeal.

‘Emergency Fair Dinkum’ which will reside on the walls of the Willoughby Hotel until sold, is now listed on the EBay charity site for sale.

NLG Hotel Group Marketing Manager, Alistair Flower said; “This was a great way for us to work with our local community ties for a great cause and of course better our fundraising efforts. We are hoping to raise $5,000.00 through the eBay charity sale of ‘Emergency Fair Dinkum’ with all proceeds raised going to the AHA NSW Queensland Floods appeal to compound our efforts so far.”

‘Emergency Fair Dinkum’ will be listed on eBay for sale until 21st February (eBay item number: 120683388229).
