The Willoughby Hotel; Winner of the Best Casual Dining Venue of the year!

On Monday 29th November, the Willoughby Hotel was recognised as the Best Casual Dining Venue of the year at the AHA (Australian Hotels Association) NSW Awards for Excellence.

The awards night which has become the most prestigious awards night within the hospitality industry, recognises the accomplishments of hotel industry leaders, throughout NSW, across a broad range of categories.

For the second year running, the Willoughby Hotel was a finalist in the Best Steak Venue of the Year category and took out the award for Best Casual Dining Venue (City) in which the judging criteria canvassed quality of produce, menu innovation, range of special promotions and activities, staff service standards and atmosphere and ambience.

Willoughby Hotel Licensee, John McGurk said “I am thrilled with the Best Casual Dining Award. We have worked very hard to develop the food culture that the Willoughby Hotel has become locally renowned for and it’s great to see the hotel now receiving industry recognition for this work.”

Other finalists in the category of Best Casual Dining Venue included; Clock Hotel, Longueville Hotel, Robin Hood Hotel, Oaks Hotel, Rocksia Hotel, The Mill Hotel, and The Winston.

“There was some tough competition in the category with all finalists representing some truly great food venues. Just being recognised along side these venues is an honour and being awarded the best in this category is a wonderful achievement.” John continued.

The AHA Awards for Excellence were held on Monday 29th November at Star City Casino. In attendance at the awards ceremony was over 800 Hotel Industry identities and special guests. The Willoughby Hotel’s Hamish Watts also took out the award for the Master of Bars category.
